Meeting with architect Italo Rota about Voom Hotel

This morning i presented my work-in-progress to architect Italo Rota. The very first thing he said was: ”I have to say that virtuality and things of virtual are far lesser interesting than today’s reality”. Ohwoah… what a big sentence, insn’t it? Then he continued, flawlessly ” yeah, i am sure and deeply conviced about that: virtual is boring, virtual worlds are not much in comparison to the very innovation, let’s see… the Wired magazine iPad® App, for example”.
Do not misanderstand me: i swear this morning i had a very interesting meeting with Mr. Rota. And somehow i agree about the meaning of his statements. Mr. Rota is absolutely right. Virtual is boring. And i think i will make a virtual installation about this concept. Also he gave me very nice challenges to mind about:
1st. You better never talk about the Voom Hotel. If you explain the Voom mindscape and what bring you here i keep listening obvious things. When i see the Voom Hotel i see something very interesting. So please stop blah blah blah about it.
2nd. Please try to watch yourself from outside. Please keep a step further: the Voom hotel seems like an end-of-career work, it amazes the idea you even try to split your mind into different pieces. So please make it a movie, not a virtual art piece. My comment: once i got a chat with Mr. Peter Greenaway and also he told me to think always out-of-the-box… ehy now i think i really have to think about me from outside.
3rd. Are you interested to work in a different project with me? Let’s have a dinner soon.
Well, here and there he gave some very precious sentence like: ”architecture is useless, and got a major problem in being made out of bricks: as soon as you draw architecture, it stops existing.”. What a piece of sweet candy for your mind, inst it?….And also: ” Why don’t you make your borderline experience without tech and digital whatsoever?…. C’mon let’s try and tell me what will happen… ok?”
Mr Italo Rota, i’ll do.

A hotel inside my mind
I begun building the Voom Hotel as one extreme act of freedom. Disgusted by reality i tried to get voices inside of me out, begin from my multiple personalities avatars. Mister Voom is the very first of my others, it’s like i’ve had a symbiotic relationship with him, Vive is starting to live inside of me very very early, since when I was 13 i think. They asked why he’s called Vive and if i had other choices. In a next coming post i’ll explain better his reasons, just for the moment i’d like to share he was the very first and that’s why he is the concierge of the hotel inside my mind. In recent times it started a desire for a virtual place to my crowded ego to live, i mean outside my mind. I asked Mister Voom to help me and in some month, without spending a cent, fortune let me own a couple of Simulator in Second Life virtual world. So I begun shaping enviroment, laying my multiple hat there. Voom Hotel is almost finished.
